Cybernetic Gate
Museum and gallery visitors are granted a portal to a digital world in Cybernetic Gate, an interactive structure I built in a choral artwork curated by Archivio Nanda Vigo, Milano with DustyEye. The artwork can be displayed as both a tabletop installation or inserted into its own hand-fabricated tower. Visitors interact with the piece by bringing their smartphone near the colored disc at the center of the top cavity, automatically opening a video experience onscreen.
The project was inspired by Nanda Vigo's 1972 proposal Environment/Monolocale Comune for MoMA in New York. Video artist Alessandra Silver brought the proposal to life through video, with sound design by In Itinere.
