I'm Jenny Filipetti, an artist, educator, and digital alchemist, specializing in creating experiences at the threshold where physical and digital worlds meet.My creative practice draws from a wandering background in the arts, biology, semiotics, and computer science to juxtapose human and non-human ways of perceiving and interacting with our surrounding sensory ecology. Two awards along those lines of which I'm most proud are my interactive installation Breath Vessels being awarded as a finalist for the Arte Laguna International Art Prize and my team being selected as a finalist for the 2017 International Biodesign Challenge at New York's MoMA for RXN Wristband, our working prototype of a luminescent wearable biosensor.Since 2020, I've been working with Majestic Collaborations on developing tools, resources, and learning objects to increase community resilience, with a focus on the intersections across arts and event production, cultural heritage, and disaster preparedness/response. I'm also the current Digital Experience Director for Afro Fashion Week Milan. I cofounded and formerly directed Immersive Denver, a community volunteer-driven organization seeking since our first educational summit in 2018 to connect the Colorado experiential creative community, generate new audiences for regional immersive, and advance efforts around performer and participant safety, agency, access and inclusion.While in Denver, I served on the faculty of Inworks at the University of Colorado, an interdisciplinary initiative dedicated to developing student and community capacities in design thinking, computational thinking, and rapid prototyping towards addressing hard human challenges, such as those of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. My passion for non-traditional and interdisciplinary education was first sparked at the Auraria Library, where I designed and managed a new suite of creative technology, documentation, and digital rights learning spaces as their first Creative Technology Manager.
